What’s a good healthy, organic alternative to lunchmeat?
My son starts kindergarten tommorow. At home, we eat healthy, organic fresh fruit and vegetables, and any meat is organic and freshly prepared. We try to avoid preservatives as much as possible. Im confused to what to send him with to school. Ive looked in a few stores, and no one has organic lunchmeats (do they even make them? We don’t eat lunchmeat…) I did find organic, healthy peanut butter and sugar free jelly, so we can do those some days, but Id like him to get meat in as well. What is something he can bring in a lunchbox, yet not full of nitrates and sodium?
Wow, no one has organic lunch meats? Crazy. All the supermarkets here do. Do you have any Whole Foods or Trader Joes?
You can make your own, slicing up chicken or turkey breast, or ham. If you’re cooking meat for dinner, it’s easy to keep a piece or two for his lunch the next day.
Make pastes out of garbanzo or great northern beans with spices he likes. Good protein and fiber.
