homemade composter?

does anyone know how to make a homemode composter that wouldn’t cost too much? and if possible isn’t ugly? I know the last one probably isn’t possible. thanks for your time!!

I knew someone who just took a plastic garbage can and cut the bottom out. She then poked a few small holes in the sides and kept the lid on tight. It seemed to work fine for her.
