Is the dairy industry in India the same as the UK?

In the UK, all dairy farms including Organic dairy farms shoot a lot of their male calves at birth (150,000 a year in fact) because they wouldn’t produce milk if they were given the chance to live.
Are all cows (including dairy cows) in India sacred? Do they get slaughtered once their milk production is low? Do their babies get shot at birth or sold to veal farms?
Male cows can produce milk??!!
I don’t think pointdexter is being serious.

In the Hindu tradition, all cows are sacred. Thus, I’m pretty sure that they don’t shoot their male calves at birth. There are even special places (forgot what they’re called) that old or feeble cows are sent to so they can be taken care of.

Keep in mind, this is only the Hindu tradition; there are many other ethnic and religious groups in India that treat cows very differently.
